Jerry Beckmann

After 38 years of teaching, I retired in 1998. I taught mathematics and was the department chair at East High School in Lincoln, Nebraska for 31 years. I received my M.A. degree from LSU and did post masters degree work at USC, Cornell, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Nebraska.

During retirement I have been busy doing woodwork and cabinet making. I also planted 315 apple trees, so now I have a small orchard that is producing many bushels of apples. So you see, even in retirement, I am still busy.

I retired in May of 2012 after 46 years of teaching. I sponsored/coached the High School Math Club for 15 years and coached the Middle School MATHCOUNTS team for 30 years. I received my B.A. in Mathematics and German from Bethel College, North Newton, KS, and a M.A.T. degree from the University of Nebraska. I also did studies at Phillips University, Marburg, Germany, and the University of Southern Illinois in Carbondale.

I am not "quite" retired as I am still helping with the high school math club, but I am enjoying more flexible time to participate in church activities and to spend more time "playing" with my new iPad and iPhone.
